The unit develops the multidisciplinary approach specialized in oncologic pathology. It takes part in all the Specialised Committees in tumors where the customized treatments of each patient are determined. Thus, the comprehensive care to the oncologic patients is ensured but with the benefits of the expert knowledge of each particular type of tumor. In addition to this, he gives advice to patients and his family from the Oncologic Genetic Council consultation.
Our infirmary staff has a high level of professional experience on the oncology field, assuming the handling, preparation and administration of cytostatics in the oncology unit, helping in decision taken regarding the venous accesses, side effects and specific dietetic advice.
To the extraordinary scientific qualification, it must be added the excellent attention, friendly and approachable, helping in the “humanization” of the technological oncologic therapy. It is outstanding from the medical equipment and its high degree of coordination, both for physical closeness and for accessibility, easing the daily work and allowing a major and more rapid knowledge of problems, which are arising in practice.

All tumors that may affect teenagers and adults (colon tumors and rectum, breast, prostate, lymphomas, bladder, head and neck, gynaecological, stomach, liver, kidney and pancreas). Also tumors in skin as melanomas, nervous system, esophagus, thyroids glands and testicles.
It provides all the current available treatments to treat cancer. From the chemotherapy conventional agents to new designer drugs as monoclonal antibodies, tyrosine kinase inhibitors, multi-target drugs, angiogenesis and immune modulators.
All these treatments are coordinated with oncologic surgery and radiotherapy oncology specialists.
